Jaitley justifies Fathima Beevi's removal
NEW DELHI, JULY 4. The Union Law, Justice and Company Affairs
Minister, Mr. Arun Jaitley, today said there was ``nothing
wrong'' with the way in which Ms. Fathima Beevi was removed as
Tamil Nadu Governor.
``What's wrong about it? Governors are required to keep the
Centre informed about the developments in the States. She didn't
do that. Instead she justified the developments there, even the
attack on media persons,'' he told UNI. Asked why the Union
Cabinet had rushed in removing her from office, he said the
decision was not taken in a hurry. ``She had more than one full
day to give an objective report,'' he said.
Ms. Fathima Beevi resigned on Sunday amid a storm of protests.
