Musharraf denied entry to 'paradise'
AJMER, JULY 4. A possible wish of the Pakistan President, Gen.
Pervez Musharraf, and the First Lady to pass through the
``paradise door'' at Ajmer Sharif, which is believed to ensure
entry to heaven, may not be realised as the shrine has refused to
open the door out of schedule.
According to the rules of the shrine, the jannati darwaza is
opened to visitors on four occasions in a year, and a VVIP is no
exception, said the dargah diwan, Jainuanl Abedin Ali. The door,
he said, is opened only for nine days in a year.
According to him, there is only one instance when the shrine
stretched its rules: when the Hyderabad Nizam, Mir Mehboob Ali
Khan, visited the dargah in 1909 to lay the foundation stone of
its main entrance called the Nizam Gate.
