Silhouettes go sleek
LEAN LOOKS are in. So what other way to match up to the demand
than conjure up clothes that literally contour the body? At an
exhibition of ethnic wear, Kutir presents salwars in soothing
shades and fine fabrics.
Straight cuts and simple accents make the collection ideal for
those conscious about slim silhouettes. Cotton, organdi, handloom
and voile creations make good regular wear, while the mildly
dressy ones in georgette, moss crepe and cotton tussar are
suitable for occasions.
The season's specials include a wide range of exclusive salwar
suits in organdi in eye-pleasing colours. The sets in cotton
tussar come with embroidered dupattas. There is also a fresh
range of designer saris - Benaras with kota embroidery, handwoven
ones from Orissa and tastefully designed kotas with bandini
applique work. Indo-Westerns and ghagras are other attractions.
Designed by Mamta Kheror, the clothes are distinct for the
intricate craftsmanship. Aari embroidery, mirror work, sequins,
kantha, mukaish, block prints etc. figure in her creations.
Designed with the idea of making signature labels within the
reach of the commoner, Kutir clothes are reasonably priced (Rs.
1,500 for salwars and Rs. 340 onwards for kurtas) and can be seen
at the boutique at No 4, 29 C.P.Ramaswamy Iyer Road, phone
4661031.
