Police clippings manipulated: expert
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI, JULY 5. The video clippings on the arrest of the former
Chief Minister, Mr. M. Karunanidhi, released by the Tamil Nadu
police are a ``manipulated version'', a leading forensic
scientist, Prof. P. Chandra Sekharan, said today.
The clippings were crude manipulations, ``cruder than the fake
photograph'' exhibited to the press, during the previous AIADMK
rule, showing Dr. Subramanian Swamy and TADA prisoner Ravi
together, with a view to imprisoning the Janata Party president
under the TADA, Prof. Sekharan said.
He said the repeated animation of the Union Minister, Mr.
Murasoli Maran's hand punching the DIG, CB-CID, Mr. A. P. Mohamed
Ali in the face ``did not exhibit the natural arthrological
movements of a human hand, but did clearly demonstrate the rigid
movement of the animated arm''.
The clippings said to have emanated from the police in more than
one version were manipulations by video-editing and computer
animation, the scientist said.
