Film Review: Spiders
HERE IS yet another flick that has its plot woven round the
tentacles of the `favoured' screen-villain - the spider. Based on
the story by Boaz Davidson, Steven Brooks has written the
screenplay for the directorial venture of Gary Jones.
A snag results in a space-shuttle being grounded. Not just that
there is also an uninvited guest on board - a menacing spider.
When the shuttle begins to cause problems, a self-proclaimed
leader of a mysterious group takes control.
Cut to when Marci, a young investigative journalist and her two
colleagues - Slick and Jake, hot in the trail of a project, are
recalled and assigned to the `sensational shuttle story'.
The enthusiastic trio stumble upon the supposedly out of order
space shuttle.
Further turn of events bring them in direct contact with the
spider.
How they learn about the series of experiments being conducted on
spiders in space and the deadly encounter with the six-feet
terror which continues to grow in size, is what the rest of the
narration is all about.
Starring Lana Parrilla, Mark Phelan, Oliver MacReady, Nick Swarts
and H. Murphy.
