'All-party meet an eyewash'
KOLKATA, JULY 8. The leader of CPI(M) Parliamentary party in the
Lok Sabha, Mr. Somnath Chatterjee, said the all-party meeting
convened for Monday by the Prime Minister, A. B. Vajpayee, ahead
of his coming summit meeting with Pakistan President, Gen. Pervez
Musharraf, was nothing but an `eyewash.'
``Everything from which hotel the Pakistan President will stay to
the issues to be discussed has been finalised. The all-party
meeting is only an eyewash. It is the policy of the BJP-led
Government,'' Mr. Chatterjee said while addressing a press
conference on the recent visit of Left Front MPs to the trouble-
torn Manipur.
The Centre did not consult any party or the State Governments in
the north-east before extending the Naga ceasefire beyond the
borders of Nagaland, he said and added ``we oppose this.''
