Inflation falls

NEW DELHI, JULY 8. The inflation rate fell further by 0.20 percentage points to 5.03 per cent during the week ended June 23, due to cheaper primary food articles.

The point-to-point inflation rate based on Wholesale Price Index for all commodities (base: 1993-94 = 100), which dipped for third consecutive week, was 5.23 per cent in the previous week and 6.62 per cent a year ago. The WPI declined by 0.1 per cent to 160.7 (provisional) from 160.9 in the previous week.
