TDP MLA locked up

By Our Staff Reporter

NIZAMABAD, JULY 8. The Yellareddi MLA and TDP politburo member, Mr. N. Anjaneyulu, had to face embarrassing moments when activists of the Congress, the BJP and the Telangana Rastra Samiti locked the main gate of the Yellareddi agriculture market committee and confined him and his partymen for over an hour protesting against the misuse of Government offices for party purpose.

The rival political parties got wind that Mr. Anjaneyulu was holding a party meeting with MPTC and ZPTC candidates in the agriculture market committee office in violation of the election code of conduct. Enraged workers of the three parties gathered in number and locked up the main gate. They begin raising slogans and challenging the TDP MLA to come out.

The MLA came out but was heckled by the rival party cadres forcing him to retreat. Attempts by other TDP leaders to calm down the Congress, BJP and TRS cadres went in vain. The protesters alleged that the MLA was violating the election code in the very presence of the election officers but no action was taken. At one stage, the MLA and his followers rushed to the main gate and entered into heated arguments. Even then the agitators refused to budge and ignored the request by the MLA to let him off. The MLA continued to remain in the market committee for over an hour. At one stage, the gunmen of the TDP MLA are alleged to have used force to open the gate but in vain. It was only after the arrival of police that the MLA could come out of the market committee. The agitators later demanded action against the MLA for `violating' the code.
