Thambidurai seeks apology from expert

By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI, JULY 8. The Education Minister, Mr. M. Thambidurai, today demanded a public apology from the forensic expert, Prof. P. Chandra Sekharan for describing as ``manipulated'' the video clippings released by the city police of the arrest of the DMK president, Mr. M. Karunanidhi.

In a statement, the Minister accused the expert of giving his views with a motive and denigrating the profession of forensic science by ``supporting those who indulge in deception.''

Prof. Chandra Sekharan had now made a statement against the police because the Chief Minister, Ms. Jayalalithaa, during her previous tenure, cancelled the extension of service to him, the Minister said.

``Why should he give views when he does not know video graphics?,'' the Minister asked, alleging that Prof. Chandra Sekharan, while in service, had misled the police department in the Pandiammal case through his wrong findings.
