Toons by night
NIGHTS HAVE become more animated now, what with Cartoon Network's
round-the-clock telecast. Post 9.00 p.m., you can tune in to more
toons, and yes, more fun too. From Batman, the evil quelling
knight to the engaging characters in Boomerang Marathon, variety,
as usual, is the hallmark of the Network's night slot too.
"It's all about establishing Cartoon Network as an entertainment
superbrand in the country. The 24-hour service aims to elevate
cartoons and animation to the level of general entertainment that
appeals to both children and adults", Ian Diamond, senior vice
president and general manager, Turner Entertainment Networks
Asia, Inc., has said.
So what's the after-dark line-up like, one might ask. Well...it's
a formidable mix of cult classics, hot new animation and Cartoon
Network's originals. Boomerang showcases some of Hanna-Barbera's
best animated series, while Power Zone Night Shift transports you
to the world of classic actioners - where villains are vanquished
and super heroes reign. The shows include G. I. Joe, Batman: The
Animated Series, Swat Kats, The New Adventures of Captain Planet,
Centurions and The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest.
Atom Ant, Dick Dastardly, Quick Draw McGraw, Top Cat and Secret
Squirrel - some of the animation legends will also appear. The
Cartoon Cartoon Show features a mixture of original series like I
am Weasel, The Powerpuff Girls and Johny Bravo. On weekends, the
spotlight is on one Cartoon Cartoon star.
Now, no more details please...just tune in and see for yourself.
