Honda Accord launched in South
CHENNAI, JULY 9. The all-new sixth generation Accord, introduced
internationally earlier this year by Honda Motor Co., was
launched here today. This makes Honda Siel Cars India Ltd (HSCI),
among the early ones to enter the newly created D-segment.
Mr. A. M. Gupta, General Manager, (marketing), explained the
concept behind the all new sixth generation Accord. This model,
the best of the Accord series, is an outcome of more than 25
years of unprecedented engineering achievements, he said and
added ``considering the international success of Accord and
Honda's reputation for durability, quality and reliability, we
are certain that the Accord will establish itself as the
benchmark of the Indian auto industry's luxury segment."
Honda Accord will be available in five colours including shades
of gold and silver, through 26 Honda outlets. HSCI started
commercial production in December 1997 with an indigenisation
level of over 50 per cent, which has been raised progressively to
72 per cent.
Honda Siel introduced the Honda City car in India in December
1997 and the New Honda City in November 1999. In August 2000,
Honda Siel added to the line-up by introducing the Honda City
VTEC and City Supreme.
