'Do not politicise Enron issue'

MUMBAI, JULY 11. The Shiv Sena chief, Mr. Bal Thackeray, today urged political parties to refrain from politicising the Enron issue. ``A request to the political parties - keep Enron away from politics,'' the Sena chief said while talking to reporters after a 30-minute meeting with the Enron Corporation Chairman, Dr. Kenneth Lay. The meeting held at the Sena chief's residence, was also attended by officials of Enron India and the Sena chief's son, Uddhav and his nephew, Raj.

``Keep politics away from Enron and let it supply power,'' the Sena chief said when asked about his meeting with the Enron chairman. Over the last three days, Dr. Lay had called on several political leaders and Government officials to resolve the issue.
