Sentence upheld

NEW DELHI, JULY 11. The Supreme Court today affirmed a judgment of a Mumbai special court convicting and sentencing the stock broker, Mr. Hiten Dalal, on charge of defrauding the Standard Chartered Bank of over Rs.78 crores in a 1991-92 `securities scam case'.

A three-member bench comprising Mr. Justice B.N. Kirpal, Ms. Justice Rumapal and Mr. Justice Brijesh Kumar, while dismissing an appeal from the appellant, also imposed costs of Rs. 10,000 on him.
