Chirac daughter asked to testify

PARIS, JULY 11. The daughter of the French President, Mr. Jacques Chirac, has been summoned to testify in a judicial investigation implicating her father in the use of kickbacks for personal use, the weekly Le Canard Enchaine reported today.

The 38-year-old Ms. Claude Chirac, who is also a political advisor to her father, allegedly benefitted from some $315,000 in air tickets purchased in cash between 1992 and 1995, when Mr. Chirac was Mayor of Paris.

Judges suspect that the money came from kickbacks paid to Mr. Chirac's party, the Rally for The Republic (RPR), in exchange for construction contracts.
