WTA player of the month award for Capriati

LONDON, JULY 11. Jennifer Capriati was named the WTA Tour player of the month for June on Tuesday.

The American - a losing semifinalist at Wimbledon last week - won her second consecutive Grand Slam title at Roland Garros last month with a thrilling 1-6, 6-4, 12-10 victory over Belgium's Kim Clijsters. Her French Open title was her third this season following victories at the Australian Open and in Charleston.

Capriati is currently ranked number three in the world, a career- best, and leads all WTA Tour players in prize money with $ 1,683,031 this year. This is Capriati's third player of the month honour.
