Indian businessman says he was kidnapped

NEW YORK, JULY 12. The mystery surrounding the disappearance of Mr. Karan Kumar, a prominent Republican and businessman, appears to have been solved after he told police that he was kidnapped.

Mr. Kumar said he was abducted by two men near a restaurant and driven for several hours before being taken to an undisclosed location. Later, he was dropped in a park where police found him.

His wife had reported him missing after he failed to show up after a dinner with a friend. Police said Mr. Kumar, 44, appeared to be in good health.
