Motivated charges
With reference to the report ``Kashir channel's woes continue''
(The Hindu, July 9), Mr. Ashraf Sahil, Director, Doordarshan
Kendra, Srinagar writes:
``In the copy mentioned above, a wild and unverified story has
been published about Doordarshan Kendra, Srinagar. The report is
obviously mala fide as, after thorough enquiry, I have come to
learn that the allegations are not only baseless and highly
motivated, but have also triggered by some sinister passion to
malign the Kendra, where you shall agree we are discharging our
duties in difficult times.''
Mr. Ghulam Ali Majboor, general secretary, National Bhand
Theatre, writes:
``I solemnly affirm that I have not made any complaint against
Shri Ashraf Sahil, Director, Doordarshan Kendra, Srinagar and, in
fact, I would like to express my sincere gratitude and thanks to
the patronage extended to the National Bhand Theatre by the
Director, from time to time. I would like to place on record his
sincere efforts to promote folk theatre in Kashmir.''
