EPPIC has an India Chapter

BANGALORE, JULY. 14. Enterprising Pharmaceutical, Bio-technology and Related Industry Professionals from the Indian subcontinent (EPPIC), a U.S.-based non-profit organisation working in the areas of pharmaceuticals and bio-technology, have now opened an India chapter in Bangalore. The formation of the chapter was formally announced by Mr. Vivek Kulkarni, State IT Secretary, here on Friday.

The organisation has the objectives of networking and promoting professional and entrepreneurial development in "pharmaceuticals, bio-technology and related industries" (PBRI), according to an official release.

The formation of EPPIC India had been announced after a meeting between a special interest group on life sciences from TIE (The Indus Entrepreneurs -- a non profit network of IT industry leaders and stakeholders promoting IT business across nations, mostly between India and the U.S.) and EPPIC, in the U.S. during the visit of a delegation lead by Mr. Kulkarni. An MoU was also signed expressing the State Government's support to EPPIC India.

EPPIC, U.S. was started by Dr. Bala Manian, an entrepreneur and founder of several successful start-ups.

EPPIC India's charter members include Dr. Bala Manian, Chairman, EPPIC Global, Ms. Kiran Mazumdar, CMD, Biocon, Mr. Kislay Kanth, Investment Manager, 2icapital, Mr. S.P. Narayanan, ICICI Ventures, Mr. Sudhirkant, President, Millipore, Mr. Subhash Reddy, VP, e4e Labs pvt ltd., Dr. Villoo Patel, Avesthagen, Mr. Cherian Philip, MD, Sartorius, and Mr. Vivek Kulkarni.
