An ace up its sleeve
HELPAGE INDIA will have an ace up its sleeve when the curtains go
up for the Children-Grand Parent's Fest on Monday at Rajaji
Vidyashram.
A tennis ace, to be precise. Vijay Amritraj, the UN Ambassador
for Peace will make a special appearance and present gifts to the
elders and children.
The fest is aimed at strengthening the ``emotional bonding
between children and elders by providing an opportunity for the
children to interact with the elders''.
The students of Rajaji Vidyashram would also put up a cultural
show for the elders in the course of the fest.
The students had worked to mobilise funds for the HelpAge India
projects.
Some 50 elders from Mercy Old Age Home will participate in the
event.
Ms. Indrani Rajadurai, Joint Director, HelpAge India was
impressed with the enthusiasm shown by the school students.
``Students took this golden opportunity to express their care,
love and gratitude towards elders,'' she says.
``The Children-Grand Parent's Fest is organised all over the
country by HelpAge India to make students understand that elders
are a valuable asset to the family, society and the country at
large,'' the Director adds.
