Wish I stayed here longer: Musharraf
AGRA, JULY 15. The Pakistan President, Gen. Pervez Musharraf
enchanted by the beauty of Taj Mahal from the window of the
presidential suite, regretted that his trip to this ancient
Mughal City was only for two days.
``Wish I could have stayed here longer,'' Gen. Musharraf told a
senior hotel executive. Dumbstruck at the splendour of Taj for a
while, the President said ``it must be a very short walk to the
Taj from here''. The aerial distance from the hotel to Taj is
just 600 metres.
Gen. Musharraf stopped by briefly to admire the exquisite
courtyard of the hotel with fountains along the way to the main
lobby, built at a cost of Rs. 130 crores. Begum Sehba was greeted
at the entry to the lobby with a bouquet of flowers.
Three butlers attended to the First Couple from Pakistan at the
Kohinoor suite only to learn that the President would have his
Lunch at Palace Hotel. The Musharrafs were served with fresh
water melon juice before the President left for the summit venue
and Begum Sehba for Fatehpur Sikri.
