CM launches revamped TIDCO website

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, JULY 19. A revamped website of the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) providing comprehensive information about the industrial and related policies of the Central and State Governments, was launched here today by the Chief Minister, Ms. Jayalalithaa.

The site (www.tidco.com) seeks to highlight the competitive advantages and investment opportunities in Tamil Nadu for domestic and foreign investors.

In the federal policies module, the website provides detailed information about policies on industry, FDI, infrastructure, export and import, environmental laws, external commercial borrowings for industries, etc, besides the latest Government of India notifications.

According to Mr. Madhavan Nambiar, Chairman and Managing Director, TIDCO, the Tamil Nadu module provides detailed information on the State's economy, policies, infrastructure support and industrial parks, besides on the TIDCO's activities. The site, which had 6,000 pages of information (total 132 MB), provided links to more than 2,000 websites including those of the Union Government, financial institutions, Indian embassies, multilateral institutions, State Government organisations and important U.S websites.

There was an `exchange platform' which would facilitate technology and foreign investment sourcing. Industries seeking collaboration could use the facility to find suitable partners.

The website, Mr. Nambiar said, was developed by the TIDCO in collaboration with Kaashyap Radiant, Chennai, which designed the site free of cost. The company would also maintain the site free for two years.

The site would be updated every fortnight.

Gesture for pensioners

Ms. Jayalalithaa also launched a website containing a guide to pensioners on retirement benefits. The website, www.tn.gov.in/dop, incorporates the salient features of the benefits available to pensioners and family pensioners of the Government.

The Chief Minister, in her message, said: ``Thanks to the Internet, 2.71 lakh pensioners and 1.27 lakh family pensioners, who receive their pension from the Government, can now have easier access to information relating to retirement benefits without having to travel to the Pension Office.''
