Industrial workers stage dharna

PONDICHERRY, JULY 19. Members of the Industrial Estate Workers Union today staged a dharna near the Pondicherry Assembly, demanding that the a welfare advisory board be set up for the workers.

Their demands included setting up of a memorial for the workers who had died an agitation in 1930s to press for eight- hour work schedule.

Mr.Durai Arumugham, CITU secretary, and Mr. Ramasamy, Mr. Sivakumar and Mr. Sivagadatcham, office bearers of the CITU, addressed the meeting.
