Opel Swing in Chennai

CHENNAI, JULY 18. General Motors India today launched the Opel Swing in Chennai. Available in two engine options of 1.4 and 1.6 litres, the ex-showroom (Chennai) price of 1.4 litre vehicle is Rs. 6.41 lakhs and that of 1.6 litre Rs. 6.88 lakhs.

Launching the Swing here, Mr. Aditya Vij, president and managing director of General Motors India, said the all-purpose 5-door compact vehicle was equipped with all the standard luxury features to meet changing tastes, lifestyle and different needs of discerning customers.

The Opel Swing would now join the much sought after Corsa Royale and the new Astra Club 2001 that had set benchmarks in their respective segments for top of the line features, he said.

Explaining the salient features, Mr. Rajeev Chaba, vice-president (marketing), said Opel Swing was targeted at owners of hatchbacks and those upgrading to regular notchback vehicles.

He said GM India had expanded its network to 42 dealerships and 25 authorised service outlets (ASOs) across the country.

Before the close of the financial year, the company would put in place 45 dealers and 40 ASOs in 85 locations, he said.

Astra and Corsa are the other two German engineered Opel models introduced by General Motors in India. These are rolled out from the Halol facility in Gujarat.

Astra has three petrol variants with a price range of Rs. 7.51 lakhs to Rs. 9.62 lakhs and three diesel variants from Rs. 8.14 lakhs to Rs. 10.15 lakhs.

The Corsa model has three petrol variants with price ranging from Rs. 6.04 lakhs to Rs. 7.38 lakhs.
