Place for memorial will be considered favourably: CM

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, JULY 22. The Chief Minister, Ms. Jayalalithaa, today expressed the Government's inability to concede the South Indian Film Actors Association request for allotment of a public place for cremating and erecting a memorial for Sivaji Ganesan.

The Chief Minister said as there was a court ban on setting up a memorial in public place, she was not in a position to concede the demand immediately.

However, their plea for a place for memorial would be favourably considered when the Government took a decision on erecting a memorial for V.R. Nedunchezhian, which was under consideration of the Government, she added. According to film star, Mr. Sarath Kumar, it has been decided to cremate the body at the Besant Nagar crematorium.
