Shanmugham condoles Sivaji death

PONDICHERRY, JULY 22. The Chief Minister, Mr. P. Shanmugham, today expressed grief over the demise of the legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan.

Referring to the impact the late actor had created in the celluloid world, the Chief Minister said Sivaji Ganesan identified himself in whichever role he starred.

An uncrowned monarch that he was, he propagated the spirit of nationalism through most of his roles. The death caused an irreparable loss to the film world.

The Chief Minister condoled the members of the actor's bereaved family also.

The Chief Minister cancelled his engagements in Pondicherry and Karaikal and left for Chennai to pay his last respects to the late actor.

The Lt. Governor, Dr. Rajani Rai, in her condolence message today said that the passing away of the actor had created a void in Tamil cine world which was difficult to be filled.

A batch of workers and office-bearers of the Puduchery Makkal Congress led by its leader, Mr. K. Lakshminarayanan, left for Chennai to pay homage.

Mr. D. Sivaraj, president, the Pondicherry Goubert Congress, Mr. E. Ganesan, president, the JD (S) and host of leaders and representatives of various organisations expressed grief over the demise.
