FIIs net buyers in equities

MUMBAI, JULY 22. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net buyers in equities at Rs. 280.7 crores ($59.8 million) and net sellers in debt at Rs. 86.5 crores ($18.4 million) for the trading week ended July 20.

Mutual funds (MFs) were net buyers, both in equities and debt at Rs. 4.9 crores and Rs. 233.50 crores respectively during the reporting week, according to the data available with the Securities and Exchange Board of India here.

On July 18, FIIs bought equities worth Rs. 326.1 crores and offloaded them to the extent of Rs. 122.8 crores, thus recording the highest net purchases for the week at Rs. 203.3 crores ($43.3 million).

Foreign funds remained net buyers in equities on all the four trading days, except on July 19, when they made net sales of Rs. 22 crores ($4.7 million).

In case of debt transactions, they remained net buyers for one day (July 17) at Rs. 27.5 crores ($5.9 million).

As per the data on MFs for four days ending July 19, they remained net buyers in equities on three days with the highest on July 16 at Rs. 6.84 crores and net sellers in debt on July 17 at Rs. 14.69 crores.
