My aim is to win a F-1 title: Narain
BANGALORE, JULY 22. Speed is an extension of his soul. And Narain
Karthikeyan is aiming high. Topping his priority list is a
Formula One title. Narain Karthikeyan is in Bangalore as part of
a promotional campaign and he spoke to the media on his favourite
topic - Formula One. ``My aim is to win a Formula One title,'' he
said.
The 24-year-old speed-freak from Coimbatore had test driven a
Jaguar Formula One machine at Silverstone recently and he intends
to continue his stint in Formula Nippon. ``My management team is
working on other Formula One opportunities and till November I
will continue to drive in Formula Nippon as specified in the
contract,'' he said.
``It's (Formula One) different to anything I have driven earlier
and now I wait for more opportunities. As for the Jaguar test
drive, it went right just that they already had two race drivers
and one test driver. But it (test drive) helped open doors,'' he
said.
Motor sports gets a major facelift in India and its prime-force
is Narain Karthikeyan. ``We will soon be able to compete with the
best like Michael Schumacher. Driving a Formula One car is a
first step, many more things are bound to happen. Motor Sports
has widened its base in India and if the Government and
corporates join hands, we can host a Formula One event in another
three to four years,'' he said.
However at the moment, Narain is focussed on his Japanese
connection. ``I will be racing in Japan till November and I have
five more races to go. I need to be in the top six,'' he said.
