SAARC Foreign Secys. meeting confirmed
By Nirupama Subramanian
COLOMBO, JULY 23. All seven members of the South Asian
Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) have agreed to the
holding of the foreign secretaries meeting here on August 9 and
10, a senior Foreign Ministry official confirmed today.
Two days of preparatory meetings of SAARC officials from the
member-countries have been scheduled for August 7 and 8.
The meeting has assumed added significance due to the possibility
of bilateral discussions on its sidelines between the Foreign
Secretaries of India and Pakistan less than a month after the
deadlocked Agra summit.
