It's all in the still
HYDERABAD: Round big eyes, slender hands, pretty figures and
alluring faces. All features of some beautiful women. Just drape
them in colourful sarees. Lush green fields, flowing streams and
undulating waters in the background. Lo! There you've it. A
beautiful piece de art.
Yeah. This was the fare rather feeling one had going through the
painting works of Sirajuddin at Grand Kakatiya Hotel. And
Sirajuddin's characters (mostly rural women) speak to us point
blank. In the universal language of hues. The 30-odd `lively'
paintings with slick finishing more than presented the myriad
moods of these women.
"The paintings are the products of my feelings of rural women and
I have tried to capture them in as many moods as possible. They
reflect the colour of the Indian rural milieu and the beauty of
its women", says the artist, who is presently head of Department
of Painting, S.V. College of Fine Arts.
His fascination for the rural women and water colours is seen to
be believed. It indeed was a visual feast to the visitors at the
art exhibition. Sirajuddin has several awards to his credit and
has held several exhibitions.
