Security was adequate: Govt.
By Our Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI, JULY 25. The Centre today said the security provided
to Ms. Phoolan Devi was not scaled down and was ``commensurate
with the threat perception to her security''.
A Home Ministry press release said Ms. Phoolan Devi had been
provided a personal security officer round the clock in New Delhi
since her release from jail on parole in 1994.
``At no time was her security scaled down by the Delhi police,
and the present security arrangements were considered
commensurate with the threat perceptions to her security. She had
also been provided adequate security by the U.P. Government
during her visits to her constituency and other parts of the
State.''
