By Our Staff Reporter

NIZAMABAD, JULY 25. Two youths were shot dead by suspected People's War Group naxalites in Sirnapalli village under Dharpalli police station limits, about 40 km from here branding them police informants.

About 25 armed naxals in olive green uniform working in the Bheemgal, Sirnapalli and Kamareddy areas, descended on the naxal- affected village in the early hours of today. Some naxals went to the house of Vadla Narahari and asked him to accompany them to the village square. At the same time, another group of naxals also knocked the doors of Katike Shankar and asked him to come with them for some discussions.

The two were tied up with ropes and mercilessly beaten up by the naxals, who accused them of turning police informants. The two were hit with sticks in the presence of the villagers, who were asked to watch the proceedings. The naxals accused the two of taking money from the police and leaking information about the naxal movement in the area. With the result that some encounters had taken place in the area causing damage to the PWG, the naxals alleged.

The family members of the victims, who were present there pleaded with the naxals to spare them. The naxal leaders led by the District Committee secretary, Swamy, and the secretary of the Bheemgal, Sirnapalli and Kamareddy areas, Ganganna, said that there was no question of sparing the duo.

In the presence of the villagers, the naxals pumped six bullets into the body of Shankar and fired three rounds at Narahari, killing them on the spot. Before leaving the place, the naxals left behind a note which contained names of 12 other villagers, including the sarpanch and the newly-elected MPTC member, who were branded police informants. The note said that none of the 12 would be spared by the PWG if they continued with their activities against the interest of the banned outfit.

The bodies were first shifted to the Dichpalli police station where inquest was done and then brought to the District headquarters here for postmortem. The Nizamabad rural CI, Mr. Sunkara Satyanarayana, said the victims were targeted without any reason by the naxals.
