By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, JULY 25. Mr. A.C. Arumugaperumal Adityan, Special Judge- I, today ordered issue of fresh summons to Ms. V.S. Chandralekha, former TIDCO chairperson, for coming to the court on August 24 to tender evidence in the `SPIC disinvestment scam' case.

When the case was taken up, the witness was not present. She was represented by her counsel as para-military security had not been provided as demanded by her.

Nor had a new SPP been appointed yet for handling the case.

The prosecution submitted that the case be adjourned to August 24 for recording the witness's evidence and said summons could be issued. ``We will ensure the production of the witness on that date''.

The judge said in view of the prosecution's submission, the case was being adjourned by a month with a direction to the CBI, that it take steps to provide security to the witness and produce her in court on August 24 without fail.
