Raman probe doesn't cover excesses: Stalin
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI, JULY 27. The DMK Youth Wing leader and Chennai Mayor,
Mr. M. K. Stalin, today said the ``illegal entry'' into and
`excesses' committed by the police at his residence here on June
29 were not covered by the Raman Commission of Inquiry.
Stating there was ``no rule of law in Tamil Nadu'', Mr. Stalin
prayed to the State Human Rights Commission, with which he had
lodged a complaint, that it take appropriate action.
Responding to the SHRC's letter, citing a government
communication that the Commission could await the outcome of the
Raman panel probe, the Mayor said the inquiry commission covered
only the arrests of the former Chief Minister, Mr. M.
Karunanidhi, and the Union Ministers, Mr. Murasoli Maran, and Mr.
T. R. Baalu.
The Mayor's written submissions were lodged with the SHRC by the
DMK advocate, Mr. K. S. Radhakrishnan.
