'Sivaji deserves Bharat Ratna'
MUMBAI, JULY 29. The noted film actor and MP, Mr. Sunil Dutt,
today said `Nadigar Tilakam' Sivaji Ganesan, who passed away last
week, should be awarded the Bharat Ratna posthumously for his
outstanding contribution to film industry.
Speaking at a condolence meeting held by several cultural
institutions here at Shanmukhananda Sabha, Mr. Dutt said,
``Sivaji was not only a great actor but also a fine human
being.'' Mr. Dutt, who has acted in films which were re-make of
films in which Sivaji acted, said he avoided watching the
original version because he knew he would never be able to rise
to the height of Sivaji's acting.
The State Chief Secretary, Mr. V. Ranganathan, said, ``Sivaji did
not merely act but lived the role he acted'' and added he
identified himself with the character.
