Major ultras'group busted

NEW DELHI, JULY 31. Central Intelligence agencies and State police organisations have busted a major terrorist group with the arrest of 23 people, including two each from the Hizbul Mujahideen and the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). The Home Secretary, Mr. Kamal Pande, said today the arrests were made from Delhi, Hyderabad, Jalgaon and Kanpur. The ultras were allegedly involved in 14 cases of terrorist violence, including planning to kill politicians, planting explosives at the Central Secretariat here, plotting to carry out explosions in Hyderabad and Delhi and planning a `fidayeen' (suicide) attack on the Sena Bhavan.

Our Hyderabad Special Correspondent reports:

Eight Kashmiri students were arrested here today following information that they had helped the Hizb in carrying out explosions in Delhi and other places. One of the arrested, Hussain, was stated to be the brother of Altaf Hussain, an important Hizb functionary.
