Sudhagaran gets interim bail

CHENNAI, AUG 1. Mr. V. N. Sudhagaran, who is in Palayamkottai jail since June 13 in connection with an attempt to murder and possession of heroin cases, was granted interim bail for three days - August 4, 5 and 6 - by the Madras High Court today.

Mr. Justice Malai. Subramanian, granting the interim bail, asked Mr. Sudagaran to be produced at the residence of the Special Judge for NDPS Cases, Mr. Tamilvanan, on August 4, before being enlarged on bail to attend the 16th day ceremony in memory of `Sivaji' Ganesan, who died on July 20. (Mr. Sudagaran is married to the actor's grand daughter).

Mr. Asokan, counsel for Mr. Sudagaran, was also directed to execute a bond for Rs. 50,000, and was informed that conditions laid down by the court while granting the first three-day interim bail on July 23 would hold good. He must surrender before the NDPS Court on August 7.

When he was granted interim bail on July 23, Mr. Sudagaran had been debarred from meeting either journalists or his supporters and fans. And proper security was ordered to be provided to him during his stay outside the jail.
