VRS soon for Central staff

NEW DELHI, AUG. 2. The Government will soon come out with a Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) for Central Government employees to reduce the existing staff strength as recommended by the Fifth Pay Commission, the Minister of State for Personnel, Mr. Arun Shourie, informed the Rajya Sabha today.

Mr. Shourie said 10 per cent of the total staff in the Central Government would be reduced by 2005.
