Arjuna awards announced
NEW DELHI, AUG. 2. Ace shuttler, Mr. Pullela Gopichand, was today
named the recipient of the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, while
cricketer, Mr. Venkatesh Prasad, was among the 16 Arjuna awardees
announced for the year 2000-2001.
Five coaches, including the national badminton coach, Mr. S.M.
Arif, have been selected for the Dronacharya awards, while 14
former sportpersons have been honoured for their life-time
contribution in their respective areas.
