Musharraf for Hurriyat's role in dialogue

NEW DELHI, AUG. 2.The Pakistan President, General Pervez Musharraf, is learnt to have sent a letter to the All Party Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat, assuring his constant efforts to secure the Hurriyat's ``participation in a dialogue process on a final settlement to Jammu and Kashmir dispute.''

The one-page letter of the Pakistani President said that settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute should be in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmir people. General Musharraf, in his letter to the APHC chief, said that only a just peace could be a stable peace that would constitute to peace, security and prosperity in South Asia.

Referring to his July 14 meeting with the Hurriyat leaders at a tea party during his visit here, the President said that it helped him in achieving a better understanding of circumstances in which ``you are valiantly seeking to realise the freedom aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.'' He said the understanding had greatly assisted him in his interactions with the Indian leadership.
