English players arrive for Asian Satellite
BANGALORE, AUG. 6. Three English players, Andrew South, Mathew
Shuker and Mark Burgess, who arrived here to participate in the
Asian Satellite badminton championship, will also train for a
fortnight at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy (PPBA).
The three Englishmen were the first set of foreign players to
arrive for the championship which gets underway with qualifying
rounds on August 8. Players from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore
and few other nations are expected here by Tuesday. Andrew South
is ranked No.66 in the World, while Shuker is ranked 97 and Mark
Burgess is at 108.
PPBA plans to have a long term exchange programme with the
England Badminton Association which too has excellent facilities
at Milton Keynes. ``This is our first trip here and we look
forward to a good tournament and some hard training at PPBA'',
said Mr. Tom John, the English coach.
