Kishtwar carnage mastermind killed
JAMMU, AUG. 7. Security forces today shot dead Abu Ghulam of the
Lashkar-e-Taiba, - the suspected mastermind behind the massacre
of 15 Hindus in Kishtwar - and two of his associates in separate
encounters in the forests of Kishtwar and Thathri towns of Doda
district early today, an official spokesperson said.
The militants, who were responsible for the gruesome killings in
Laddhar village in Sharoti Dhar on Friday night, had broken into
smaller groups and had moved further into hinterland.
However, army troops and the special task force chased the ultras
and after three days encountered them in the forests early today.
In an encounter lasting more than an hour, the security forces
killed Abu Ghulam, a `district commander' of LeT and resident of
Pakistan.
``Scrutiny of documents recovered from him indicated that he was
the mastermind behind the killing of 13 Hindus in Laddhar village
in Kishtwar,''the spokesperson said. An Ak rifle with some
ammunition and a wireless set were also recovered.
