India loses to Croatia
MUMBAI, AUG. 7. Asian representative India lost its first round
match to Croatia on the opening day of the team World Cup of
chess for the visually impaired at Dusseldorf (Germany) on
Monday.
According to information received here today, the Indians, who
are in Group A along with Romania, Russia, Croatia, Spain and
Germany, salvaged half a point when their seasoned player Vasant
Patil drew his match against Stjepan Jankovic after Swapnil Shah,
Madan Bagayatkar and Shirish Patil lost their matches to Hinko
Cajzler, Milutin Sakic and Vlatko Marendic respectively.
lThe results: (First round) Group A:Romania (2.5) bt Germany
(1.5), Russia (2.5) bt Spain (1.5), Croatia (3.5) bt India (0.5).
Group B: Ukraine (3) bt Yugoslavia (1), Poland (3.5) bt Slovenia
(.5), Lithuania (2) drew with Hungary (2).
