Heroics sans action
Sir,- The killing of innocent people at Doda and at the Jammu
railway station is tragic. The Home Minister has come up with an
action plan. Though one tends to feel that terrorism will be put
to an end when a plan is proposed, every time the story is
otherwise.
This only shows that there is possibly a lack of commitment on
the Home Ministry's part to pursue the plan devotedly and there
is lack of interest on the part of the Jammu and Kashmir
Government to stop the killings.
The Kashmir problem persists due to continued indecisiveness and
lack of courage on the part of Governments at the Centre. When it
comes to dealing with the Kashmir terrorists, our leaders always
develop cold feet. They talk heroically but their action does not
reflect their words.
Harischandra Parasuram,
Mumbai
