India keeps losing
MUMBAI, AUG. 10. Continuing its poor show, India lost to fancied
Russia in its Group A fourth round league match of the team World
Cup of chess for the visually impaired at Dusseldorf (Germany) on
Thursday. The Russians grabbed four points while this was India's
fourth consecutive defeats in as many matches.
Sergueis Smirnov and Kyrlov beat Swapnil Shah and Madan
Bagayatkar respectively without much effort while Anatolis
Guimadeev and Stroko rounded off the tally with easy wins over
Shirish Patil and Vasant Patil, according to information received
here.
The Indians will now play Germany in their next round- robin
league tie.
The results: (Fourth round): Group A: Spain (2.5) bt Germany
(1.5); Russia (4) bt India (0); Romania (3) bt Croatia (1).
Group B: Ukraine (3) bt Slovenia (1); Yugoslavia (2.5) bt Hungary
(1.5); Poland (3.5) bt Lithunia (.5).
