Tension in U.P. town'
MUZAFFARNAGAR (U.P.), AUG. 12. The idol of Hanuman and the door
of a temple were damaged setting off violent protests and tension
forcing police to fire in the air in Jalalabad town of Uttar
Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, senior police officials said
here today.
The Inspector General of Police (Meerut Zone), Mr. D.S. Sambhal,
said the idol was damaged this morning following which a mob
blocked Delhi-Saharnpur highway for three hours in protest.
Police had to open fire in the air to remove the road blockade,
he said.
