By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD, AUG. 12. The Department of Culture has planned a
string of events to enrich the cultural scene in the State
thoughtfully knitting special occasions with events. Apart from
the regular cultural calender which contains theatre, dance and
music festivals, it is now planning to celebrate Vinayaka
Chavithi, Navratri, Children's Day and Teachers' Day too in a big
way by organising programmes related to the themes chosen.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Ms.G.Rekha Rani,

Celebrations would precede all of them. 'Sare Jahan Se Achcha', a
three hour event will see several city colleges and schools
presenting specially choreographed dance programmes. Patriotism
is the central theme of these.
Special audio visual effects and releasing of pigeons and tri
colour balloons would mark the day. To encourage and bring about
the best in students the programme would be conducted as a
competition and prizes would be awarded to winners by sponsors
(corporate houses).
Mr.E.Peddi Reddy, Minister for Tourism, inaugurates the
celebrations. The department would be honouring the family
members of Major Padmapani Acharya who laid down his life in the
country's defence during Kargil operation.
A 'Ganesh Mela' would be held from August 14 at Ravindra Bharathi
in which artistes would be depicting their talent in the form of
Ganesha's various forms in the medium of their choice. The art
works would be on display at Ravindra Bharathi during the mela
period, Ms.Rekha Rani said.
The advent of Navratri season would witness a special Navratri
mela to be held at Lalit Kala Thornam, she added. A children's
carnival would be organised from November 11 to 13 here and

districts too.
A theatre workshop was also being planned to train enthusiastic
