CPI(M) leader shot dead

KOLKATA, AUG. 13. The chairman of the CPI(M)-dominated Dumdum Municipality, Dr. Sailen Das, was shot dead at Dumdum today by some persons, police said.

Mr. Das was shot at from point blank range by the assailants when he was leaving his residence at around 9.40 a.m., the Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Mr. Chayan Mukherjee, said.
