Future Software attains People CMM Level 3
CHENNAI, AUG. 13. Future Software, a leader in communication
software, has been assessed at People CMM Level 3. With this
achievement, the company has attained the unique distinction of
being the first communication software company in the world to
have been assessed at People CMM Level 3, claims a company
release.
CMM (capability maturity model) was developed in 1986 by the
Software Engineering Institute (SEI) located at the Carnegie
Mellon University. Over the years, it has emerged as a framework
for organisational improvement. CMM focuses on process management
and quality improvement concepts for software development. A
unique and revolutionary path, CMM lays down a framework marked
by five stages of process maturity.
Using the SEI's CMM for software, many organisations have made
improvements in their software processes and practices. Many of
these organisations have discovered that their continued
improvement requires significant changes in the way they manage
people, changes that are not fully accounted for in the CMM for
software.
While CMM focuses on the process part, People-CMM concentrates on
the people part.
