Gallantry awards for 165

Army personnel

NEW DELHI, AUG. 14. A total of 165 armed forces personnel have been named for Gallantry Awards, including Kirti Chakra, Vir Chakra and Shaurya Chakra on the occasion of Independence Day.

The President has also approved 23 Gallantry and Distinguished Service Awards to armed forces personnel for their successful conquest of Mt. Everest. Besides, seven mention-in- despatches have also been announced.

The awardees are: Kirti Chakra - Capt. Pankaj Dhyani and Corporal Akhilesh Kumar Mishra.
