Women robbed of gold chain

BANGALORE, AUG. 14. Two youth robbed a woman of a gold chain, three saris and two pairs of footwear after threatening her with a knife at her house in Peenya Police limits on Tuesday.

Police said that the youth rang the bell of Ms. Radha M.Reddy's house at Gruha Vaibhava Apartments in Peenya at about 3 p.m. When Ms. Reddy, who was alone at the house, opened the door, they inquired an address and gave her an envelope. As she was having a look at the address on the envelope, the youth took out a knife and threatened her. They relieved Ms. Reddy of her gold chain, three saris, a pair of slippers and shoes.

Peenya Police have registered a case of robbery and are investigating.

Coolie robbed

Three persons waylaid a coolie and robbed him of Rs.400 in the City Market Police limits on Monday.

B.K.Raju (49), a native of Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu and who works in Avenue Road, was coming from a hotel after having his dinner at about 8.30 p.m. when the three men waylaid him in front of the mutton market on BSR Road and relieved him of the cash. Police have registered a case.

Chain snatched

A gold chain worth Rs.12,000, was snatched from Ms. Lakshmamma while she was commuting by a BMTC bus on Monday.

Ms. Lakshamma, an employee of the Department of Collegiate Education, boarded the bus (Route No-81) at Prakashnagar and got off near Maharani's College at about 9.45 a.m. when she found that her chain had been snatched. Upparpet Police have registered a case.

Women dies of burns

A 27-year-old woman, who was allegedly harassed by her husband for dowry, committed suicide by setting herself on fire at her house at Venkatala village on Monday.

Anjanamma, who suffered serious burns, died at Victoria Hospital on Tuesday. Yelahanka Police have arrested her husband, Muniraju (40), a resident of D.V.Road in Venkatala.

Burgled

Two houses were burgled in cases reported from the adjoining J.C.Nagar and R.T.Nagar police limits.

Thieves broke into the house of Mr. Sirajuddin, a businessman, at Marappa Garden in J.C.Nagar on Sunday and made away with gold ornaments and electronic gadgets worth Rs.20,000.

Adopting a similar modus operandi, thieves took away a television set and a VCP from the house of Mr. Anantharamana in Muniyappa Block in R.T.Nagar the same day.
